What is Intel up to?

Seriously, what are they up to? Intel acquires Offset Software, a game development studio that is doing a game and an engine. Wait, I was thinking the game and tech are for PC and Xbox360? What would Intel do with that?

Not so long ago, some well known graphics guys went to work for Intel. A while ago Intel acquired Neoptica

Signs of Larrabee coming? Intel starting to take GPUs seriously? Something else?

Definitely signs of the big blue giant finally waking up. LRB will be awesome.

Add Havok’s acquasition to that list and interesting “PC Gaming Alliance” formed with AMD (http://www.ixbt.com/news/hard/index.shtml?10/06/63, sorry link in russian).

PC now is between hammer and anvail - consoles and rapidly growing mobile gadgets - so obviously something new is forging :) Hope it will be great.

Wow I did not know Tom Forsyth probably *the* Direct3D guru went to Intel no wonder he does no longer post in the D3D mailing list since awhile.

This explains why nVidia start to shit in their pants and try to cover up with purchases as well.

I think Intel still has a lot of ground to cover if they are to compete with NVIDIA in the GPU marked.
